Disc Tumbler Locks: are a low security utility lock that have
limited keying capabilities. Master keying for disc tumbler locks
is limited to only one level. Keys with a "D" in the number have
been masterkeyed. Keys with a "C" in the number are not mas-
terkeyed and will only work in appropriate lock.The disc tumbler
lock consists of chambers with only one disc per chamber which
raises or lowers as the key passes through the window that is
cut in the disc. This type of lock is easier to circumvent due to
its construction.
Pin Tumbler Locks: are a medium security utility lock that have
greater keying capabilities. Master keying for pin tumbler locks
is not as limited as with the disc tumbler locks. The pin tumbler
consists of chambers that contain at least two pins per chamber
which raises or lowers as the key passes through. This type of
lock is harder to circumvent due to its construction.

Keyed Locks
Keyed Different (KD):
All locks in the item # will have a different key number. Each set
of keys supplied will work with only one of the locks in the order.
Keyed Alike (KA):
All locks in the item # will have the same key number. Each set
of keys supplied will work with all locks ordered with the same
key change pattern number.
Masterkeyed, Keyed Different (MKKD):
Each set of keys supplied will work with only one of the locks
in the order. Master keys (ordered separately) will open all
locks ordered.
Masterkeyed, Keyed Alike (MKKA): Special order only.
Used when locks are required to be keyed alike within groups,
and a different key number for each group. Master keys (ordered
separately) will open all locks in all groups.
Most keyed locks are available in four keying specifications.
None of the locks are stocked in all four types, but most locks
can be special ordered to fit your application needs.
Understanding Master Keys
When ordering a Master Keyed (MK) lock, you must know at
the time your order is placed that a master key is going to be
necessarywith the locks. Amaster key onlyworks on locks preset
from the factory to allow the use of a master key. Ordering a
master key for a lock you already have will not work unless the
lock has been previously set to accept a master key. In reality it
is the lock that allows a master key to work, not the key itself.
*NOTE: For 3/4" material add 1 WP21 spacer to 7/8" lock.
For 1-1/8" material add 2 WP21 spacers to 1-3/8" lock.
